Terms of Agreement

By typing "I agree" in the box at the bottom of the Course Payment page, I understand and agree to the following:

• In order to register for this course, I understand that as a New York State resident and a member of AARP, I will be charged a total course tuition fee of $31.95, which includes a charge for fees payable to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. I understand that if I am not a member of AARP, I will be charged a total course tuition fee of $34.95, which includes a charge for fees payable to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.

• All information and recommendations contained in this AARP NY Internet Point and Insurance Reduction Program Driver Online Course have been compiled from sources believed to be reliable and to represent the best current opinion on the subject. No warranty, guarantee, or representation is made by AARP as to the absolute correctness or sufficiency of any representation contained in this program and AARP assumes no responsibility in connection therewith, nor can it be assumed that all acceptable safety measures are contained in the publication or that other or additional measures may not be required under particular or exceptional conditions or circumstances.

• The 360-minute curriculum provides opportunities for me to identify safety strategies to improve my driving behavior. However, no warranty, guarantee, or representation is made by AARP as to the absolute correctness or sufficiency of any representation contained in this program and AARP assumes no responsibility in connection therewith; nor can it be assumed that all acceptable safety measures are contained in the publication or that other or additional measures may not be required under particular or exceptional conditions or circumstances.

• In compliance with New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Section 215(a), 399-1 and 399-n, and Section 2336 of the Insurance Law, licensed New York motorists may complete an Internet Point and Insurance Reduction Program (IPIRP). Upon completing this course and if you are the principal operator of a motor vehicle, you will receive a minimum 10% reduction in the base rate of your automobile and motorcycle liability and collision insurance premiums each year for three years. You may be eligible to reduce as many as four (4) points on your driving record. The DMV computer will automatically note your eligibility to receive the reduction.

NOTE: The point total cannot be reduced below zero. Point reduction can only be credited once every 18 months. Points which are reduced remain on a motorist’s record, but are not counted by the Department in determining further administrative actions against the license. Point reduction does not affect actions mandated by statute, such as license revocation for three speeding convictions within 18 months and point reduction does not affect suspensions or revocations already in place.

• AARP has incorporated into this program certain measures to ensure my identity as the sole user of this program. I will be the only person who participates in and completes this online course, including any applicable quizzes and tests, and any misrepresentation of identity may comprise insurance fraud and may subject me to penalties in my state. I understand that the certificate of completion cannot be provided without complete and correct information.

• I understand that for identity verification purposes, AARP will utilize all of the following methods to ensure my identity: 1.) I will be required to answer Content Validation Questions derived from the course content. I shall have 60 seconds to respond. Failure to respond correctly and/or failure to respond within the 60-second time limit shall result in failure. I shall have three chances to pass, after which I will be required to restart the course from the beginning, at no additional cost to me. 2.) I will be asked to enter a word sequence as part of the Keystroke Verification System that will be used to validate my identity while in the course. Throughout the course, I will be asked to re-enter the word sequence and the system will validate my identity based on the analysis of the keystroke patterns. 3.) I will be required to answer Personal Validation Questions derived from the information I enter during course registration. I shall have 45 seconds to respond. Failure to respond correctly and/or failure to respond within the 45-second time limit shall result in authentication failure. I shall have two chances to fail authentication, after which I will be locked out of the course and will need to contact AARP customer service. I will be required to restart the course from the beginning, at no additional cost to me.

• I understand that AARP is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. AARP will collect information from its users at several different points during the course. AARP will not use or sell this information to promote products or services unrelated to this traffic safety course, or use this information in ways that are different from what is disclosed in AARP’s Privacy Policy. • I understand that this course incorporates tests as a means of determining my participation and comprehension of the course materials. I understand I will be tested six (6) times throughout the course and must pass each test with a minimum score of seventy-five (75) percent in order to pass the entire course and receive my certificate of course completion. I understand that I will have 45 seconds to answer the content questions asked during the program. By accepting this agreement, I understand that test scores of anything less than seventy-five (75) percent may result in course failure and loss of fees paid for the course.

• I understand my certificate of completion will be received at the address supplied by me during registration and within fifteen (15) days after SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION of the program at no charge, unless I select a faster method of delivery for an additional charge.

• I agree not to circumvent the Program and any attempt to circumvent the Program shall be in violation of this Agreement. I agree that I am solely responsible for any and all damages that occur from my attempted circumvention of the Program. I understand that my sole remedy for breach of this Agreement by AARP is the return of monies paid for the course. I expressly waive any claims for incidental or consequential damages.

• I understand I have thirty (30) days from the date of registration to cancel my participation in this program and request that a refund be credited to my credit card. I am aware that refunds cannot be issued after the course completion certificate has been processed.

• I understand I have thirty (30) days from the date of registration in which to complete this course.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The school is prohibited from issuing a certificate of completion if the student has not met all of the requirements for course completion and the student should not accept a certificate under such circumstances. A student commits a crime punishable by imprisonment if the student 1) signs a certificate and has not received six (6) hours of instruction; and/or 2) falsifies any information on a certificate. This Agreement constitutes and incorporates all negotiations, understanding, and agreements between the school and the student and no verbal assurances or promises not contained herein shall bind the school or the student.

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT STATEMENTS:

By accepting this agreement, I understand that tests are provided as part of the Program. I represent that I am the sole person that will answer the test questions and will do so without assistance from a source other than the Program, Program Instructor or other authorized material.

By accepting this agreement, I understand and agree that the certificate of completion is contingent upon my SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION of the program and verification that I have successfully completed the Program.

By accepting this agreement, I understand that course service interruption may occur during the attendance of this course.
